Produce Rescue Center need volunteers. The Produce Rescue Center
is a dedicated facility that focuses on recovering and distributing fresh produce
that might otherwise go to waste. This center works with farmers, grocery
stores, wholesalers, and other partners to collect surplus or imperfect but
nutritious produce. The produce is then sorted, packed, stored, and quickly
distributed to families in need, ensuring access to healthy, fresh options.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Monday-
Thursday 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Volunteer Requirements:
- 25 volunteers (maximum) for each shift. If you
have a group larger than 5, please sign up under the Group Opportunities
or email Doressa Hawes at dhawes@goldenharvest.org
- Volunteers should be at least 8 years old. Anyone
under 13 needs to be signed up by a guardian.
- Volunteers should be comfortable standing for 2-3
hours in an assembly line and lifting 5-10 pounds repeatedly.
- Please dress in comfortable, casual clothes that
can get dirty/sweaty and comfortable shoes for standing.
- CLOSED TOED shoes are required for safety when
working in the warehouse. No sandals or flip flops please.
- To protect the safety of our volunteers and
provide a positive environment, Golden Harvest requires the following
dress code of volunteers: closed toed shoes, no leggings, no sleeveless
tops, no cropped tops, skirts and shorts must be no shorter than two
inches above the kneecap. (no gym shorts, short shorts, or leggings)
- Volunteers who come inappropriately dressed will
be asked to change before their shift.
