What We Do
We provide Mobile Market food distributions at various locations across our 25-county service area in Georgia/South Carolina. A truck from Golden Harvest Food Bank delivers grocery items and food boxes to distribute to anyone in need. We need volunteers to help with food distribution at these events.
Volunteer tasks will vary for each mobile market and might include unloading the Golden Harvest truck, setting up food on tables, placing food in bags, loading food into clients’ vehicles, or asking each driver a series of required questions. We appreciate volunteers being flexible, with a missionary spirit when given an assignment by a staff member.
The type of food distributed at each mobile market will also vary and might include produce, grocery items, vegetables, canned goods, packaged beans, etc. The number of clients we serve at each mobile market will vary and is very unpredictable. Sometimes cars start lining up hours in advance. Sometimes we have food boxes left over.
Schedule:
- Mobile markets with a volunteer need will be posted on the volunteer calendar.
- To prevent overcrowding, please do not show up without scheduling online.
