Have you ever wanted to learn how to grow your own food but weren’t sure where to start?
Grow With Us Wednesdays is a slower-paced, hands-on volunteer experience designed to help you build confidence in the garden while supporting our work at the Urban Farm.
Unlike a traditional volunteer shift, these sessions create space for learning along the way. You’ll work alongside our farm team, ask questions in real time, and gain practical skills you can take home with you.
Whether you’re brand new to gardening or looking to deepen your knowledge, this is a welcoming place to start.
What to Expect
- Hands-on experience with planting, harvesting, and maintaining crops
- Real-time guidance from our farm team
- Opportunities to ask questions and learn as you go
- A relaxed, supportive environment — no prior experience needed
Who Can Participate
- Open to individuals and small groups
- All experience levels welcome
Attire: Get ready to get down and dirty! Wear comfortable shoes or boots suitable for gardening, and don't forget your essentials for working outdoors - think bug spray, a hat, sunscreen, gardening or work gloves, and a trusty water bottle to keep you hydrated.
This opportunity is physically demanding. While gardening is therapeutic, it can also be quite the workout! Be prepared to flex those muscles and lift at least 50 pounds during our gardening sessions.
Our Urban Farm is located at 702 Fenwick St, Augusta, GA, next door to The Master's Table Soup Kitchen, near The James Brown Arena.
When you arrive:
1. Drive up to the main entrance gate and press the button on the call box. A staff member inside will remotely open the gate for you.
2. Park your car in one of the designated volunteer parking spaces. The entrance to the Urban Farm is to the right of The Master's Table Soup Kitchen, down the sidewalk.
